Learning Objectives

  1. Through brainstorming and apperception activities, students are able to recall and share personal experiences clearly
  2. Through meaning building and text analysis, students are able to identify the structure and language features of recount text properly
  3. Through guided writing practice, students are able to write a recount text with correct structure, appropriate vocabulary, and vivid descriptions
  4. Through peer review and presentation, students are able to present their recount text confidently and provide constructive feedback to peers

Steps of Teaching

PRE-TEACHING

 

Teacher greets students and leads doa (prayer)

Teacher checks attendance

Teacher shows pictures or videos of memorable experiences and asks students to share their own experiences

Teacher explains the learning objectives and the importance of recount text

 

WHILST-TEACHING

 

Part 1: Building Knowledge & Modeling

Teacher presents sample recount texts and reads them aloud together

Teacher explains: "What is Recount Text?" and its purpose

Teacher explains the structure of recount text:

Orientation - introduces who, what, when, where

Series of Events - describes events in chronological order

Conclusion - reflects on or wraps up the experience

Teacher explains language features:

Past tense (simple past, past continuous)

Time connectives (First, Then, After that, Finally, etc.)

Descriptive language (adjectives, vivid descriptions)

Teacher highlights different parts of the text using colors

 

Part 2: Joint Construction

Teacher divides students into 5-6 groups

Teacher distributes picture stories and LKPD (Student Worksheet)

Teacher guides students to write a recount text based on the pictures while connecting to their personal experiences

Teacher circulates to provide feedback and guidance

Each group completes their recount text collaboratively

 

POST-TEACHING

 

Each group presents their recount text to the class

Teacher provides constructive feedback on structure, language use, and content

Students give feedback to their peers

Teacher assigns independent homework: write a recount text about "The Most Unforgettable Trip/Experience in Your Life"

Assesment

1.      Teacher give a story image, student make a group and write down the story.

2.      Teacher assigns independent homework: write a recount text about "The Most Unforgettable Trip/Experience in Your Life"
